Argentina Is Now The Fastest Growing Producer Of Raw Liquid and Dry Whey Dairy Products May 19, 2015

The most significant annual growth of raw liquid whey production in the world was registered in Argentina (+11.7%). The other countries showed mixed dynamics in relative volumes: the Netherlands (+0.6%), Poland (+3.6%), the United Kingdom (+1.6%), Canada (-0.9%) and the Russian Federation (-0.1%). Dry whey production displayed the most substantial annual growth rates in Argentina (+53.4%) and Poland (+8.3%).

Global production of raw liquid whey was estimated at 109 million tonnes in 2013, which was 886 thousand tonnes more than in 2012, and 1.6 million tonnes (or 1.5%) less than the peak production level recorded in 2011.

It is important to mention that raw liquid whey is subject to further processing (e.g. evaporation, drying, concentration, concentration and demineralization). In 2013, global production of dry whey amounted to 2.49 million tonnes, followed by condensed whey (0.449 million tonnes) and cheese whey (0.052 million tonnes).

The countries with the largest production of raw liquid whey in absolute volumes were the USA (23.2 million tonnes), France (11.3 million tonnes), Germany (10.4 million tonnes) and Italy (6.9 million tonnes).

The largest production of dry whey in absolute volumes was recorded in France (619 thousand tonnes), the USA (465 thousand tonnes), Germany (371 thousand tonnes) and the Netherlands (200 thousand tonnes).
