China seized control of the generating market. In 2014, China exported 10.4 thousand units of electric generating sets and rotary converters totaling 4.3 billion USD, 0.2% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner was the U.S., where it supplied 9.1% of its total electric generating sets and rotary converters exports in value terms, accounting for 37.5% of the U.S.'s total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, China was a net exporter of electric generating sets and rotary converters. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was much more pronounced.

The U.S. and Denmark were among the other main global suppliers of electric generating sets and rotary converters in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Hungary (+110.8% per year) and Spain (+19.5% per year).

In 2014, China's top 5 trading partners were the U.S., Indonesia, Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey, with a combined 33.1% share of China's electric generating sets and rotary converters exports. The share of Indonesia increased slightly (+3.6 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. illustrated negative dynamics (-4.0 percentage points).
