Paper Bag Market - China Remains the World’s Largest Exporter of Paper Sacks and Bags, with $3.7B in 2013

China dominates in the global sacks and bags of paper trade, strengthening its position in the global export structure from 7% in 2007 to 17% in 2013. In 2013, China supplied 22.5% of its total sacks and bags of paper exports into the U.S., accounting for 34.7% of total U.S. imports.

The global trade on the paper bag market reached 22.4 billion USD, with a CAGR of 4.8% from 2007 to 2013. In physical terms, it showed steady growth, rising from 8,714 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 10,338 thousand tonnes in 2013.

In 2013, the U.S. (10.8%), France (8.8%), Germany (7.1%), Mexico (5.6%) and the Netherlands (5.1%) were the leading destinations of paper sacks and bags imports, together making up 37.5% of global imports. The share of the Netherlands increased (+1 percentage points), while the share of Mexico illustrated negative dynamics (-1 percentage points).

China along with Germany were the main global suppliers of paper sacks and bags in 2013 with a combined share of 31.4% of global exports. China was also the fastest growing exporter from 2007 to 2013 (+20.2% per year), distantly followed by Poland (7.9%) and Spain (+3.8% per year).
