China’s Exports of Indicator Panels Incorporating LCD or LED Increased by 16% in 2014

China dominates in the global trade of indicator panel incorporating liquid crystal devices. In 2014, China exported 638 million units of indicator panels incorporating liquid crystal devices totaling 932 million USD, 16% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was the U.S., where it supplied 11% of its total indicator panels incorporating liquid crystal devices exports in value terms, accounting for 8% of the U.S.'s total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, China was a net exporter of indicator panels incorporating liquid crystal devices. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. In physical terms this difference was even more pronounced.

The U.S. and Germany were among the other main global suppliers of indicator panels incorporating liquid crystal devices in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were the United Kingdom (+11% per year) and Sweden (+10% per year). It was the U.S., though, that significantly strengthened its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, China's top 5 trading partners were the U.S., Japan, Germany, the Republic of Korea and Turkey, with a combined 26% share of China's indicator panels incorporating liquid crystal devices exports. The share of Germany increased slightly (+2 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. dropped sharply (-11 percentage points).
