EU Seeder and Planter Industry Declines

From 2007 to 2014, EU seeder and planter production showed negative dynamics, falling from 81.6 thousand units in 2007 to 44.9 thousand units in 2014. It dropped with a CAGR of -8.2% over the period under review. In value terms, EU planter production reached 662 million EUR in 2014, growing by +6.3% annually.

The countries with the largest production of seeders, planters and transplanters in absolute volumes were France (4.4 thousand units), Spain (3.4 thousand units) and Austria (1.2 thousand units).

Positive dynamics in seeder and planter production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Spain (+3.8% per year), while for the other two EU leaders (France and Austria) the paces of growth were more modest or negative.

France dominated in EU planter production and trade. In 2014, it exported the lion's share of its total seeder output. Of this amount, 30% was supplied to Germany, where France's seeders, planters and transplanters held a 78% share of total German imports.
