Recently, one of the U.S. top mowing equipment manufacturers Excel Industries, announced the launching of a new facility in Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC), making Kansas the main distribution center for the company's products.

Excel Industries has, in recent years, experienced rapid growth on the mower market, and was awarded the Governor's Exporter of the Year in 2013 when its sales reached 210 million USD. The company plans to further expand its headquarters in Hesston to streamline the process of launching new product lines.

The opening of the new site in LPKC is going to provide employment for two hundred people. This facility will be comprised of warehousing and distribution sites, with the prospect of manufacturing mowing equipment.

Excel Industries was founded in 1960, and is considered one of the key U.S. producers of consumer, professional and golf course mowers. Moreover, it is an active player on the global market, shipping mowers to more than thirty countries.

The U.S., on the whole, continues to dominate in the global mower trade. In 2014, the U.S. exported 1,415 thousand units of mowers totaling 1,186 million USD, 6% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was Canada, where it supplied 32% of its total mower exports in value terms, accounting for 95% of Canada's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, the U.S. was a net exporter of mowers. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced.

China and Germany were among the other main global suppliers of mowers in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Germany (+12% per year) and the United Kingdom (+6% per year). It was China, though, that significantly strengthened its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, the U.S.'s top 5 trading partners were Canada, Australia, France, Belgium and the United Kingdom, with a combined 66% share of the U.S.'s mower exports. The share of Canada increased (+5 percentage points), while the share of France illustrated negative dynamics (-0.2 percentage points).
