France Ranks First among EU Producers and Exporters of Additives for Mineral Oils

From 2007 to 2014, EU production of prepared additives for mineral oils showed steady growth, rising from 3,047 million EUR in 2007 to 4,980 million EUR in 2014. It expanded with a CAGR of +7.3% over the period under review. In value terms, EU mineral oil additive production was 1,878 thousand tonnes in 2014.

France was the largest producer of mineral oil additives in absolute volumes, with 2,121 million EUR. It was followed by Italy (1,159 million EUR) and Germany (646 million EUR).

Positive dynamics in mineral oil additive production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Italy (+10.3% per year), while for the other two EU leaders (France and Germany) the paces of growth were more modest or negative.

France dominated in EU mineral oil additive production and trade. In 2014, it exported 90% of its total mineral oil additive output. Of this amount, 15% was supplied to Italy, where France's prepared additives for mineral oils held a 67% share of total Italy's imports.
