Apricot Market - France Remains the Global Leader in Apricot Exports

France continued its dominance in the global apricot trade. In 2014, France exported 64 thousand tonnes of apricot totaling 120 million USD, 7% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner on the global apricot market was Germany, where it supplied 43% of its total apricot exports in value terms, accounting for 42% of Germany's total imports.

Overall, the global apricot trade reached 447 million USD, with a CAGR of 6% from 2007 to 2014. In physical terms, it showed steady growth, rising from 210 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 276 thousand tonnes in 2014.

In 2014, Germany (23%), the Russian Federation (9%), Italy (8%), France (7%) and Kazakhstan (6%) were the leading destinations of apricot imports, together making up 53% of global imports. The share of Kazakhstan increased (+6 percentage points), while the share of Italy illustrated negative dynamics (-5 percentage points).

Spain and Italy were among the other main global suppliers of apricot in 2014 with a combined share of 35% of global exports. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Jordan (+44% per year) and Lithuania (+28% per year). It was Spain, though, that was able to nearly double its position in the global export structure, from 14% in 2007 to 25% in 2014.
