From 2007 to 2014, EU perfume and toilet water production showed mixed dynamics, finally falling from 4.4 billion EUR in 2007 to 4.0 billion EUR in 2014. It dropped with a CAGR of -1.6% over the period under review. In value terms, EU perfume production was 124 million litres in 2014.

France was the largest producer on the perfume market in value terms, with 2.7 billion EUR. It was distantly followed by Spain (355 million EUR) and Italy (354 million EUR).

Positive dynamics in perfume production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Italy (+13.8% per year), while for the other two EU leaders (France and Spain) the paces of growth were negative.

France dominated in EU perfume production and trade. In 2014, it exported the lion's share of its total perfume output. Of this amount, 16% was supplied to Germany, where French perfumes and toilet waters held a 49% share of total German imports.
