Despite a 4% drop in exports in 2014, France held the second spot in the global electric smoothing iron trade. In 2014, France exported 11.9 thousand tonnes of electric smoothing irons totaling 227 million USD. Its primary trading partner was Germany, where it supplied 18% of its total electric smoothing iron exports in value terms, accounting for 21% of Germany's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, France was a net exporter of electric smoothing irons. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced.

China and Germany were among the other main global suppliers of electric smoothing irons in 2014. The fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Portugal (+44.4% per year) and the Netherlands (+17.9% per year). It was China, however, that was able to significantly strengthen its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, France's top 5 trading partners were Germany, Turkey, the Russian Federation, Spain and Belgium, with a combined 55.5% share of France's electric smoothing iron exports. The share of Germany increased significantly (+9.4 percentage points), while the share of the United Kingdom illustrated negative dynamics (-7.4 percentage points).
