France is one of the leaders on the global helicopter market. In 2014, France exported 312 units of helicopters totaling 1,546 million USD, a robust 40% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was Norway, where it supplied 15% of its total helicopter exports in value terms, accounting for 72% of Norway's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, France was a net exporter of helicopters. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced.

The U.S. and Italy were among the other main global suppliers of helicopters in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Poland (+93% per year) and Finland (+18% per year). Canada also strengthened its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, France's top 5 trading partners were Norway, the U.S., Japan, Australia and Angola, with a combined 58% share of France's helicopter exports. The share of Norway increased significantly (+11 percentage points) and the share of France's other partners also demonstrated growth.
