French Skin Care Products Dominate on the EU Market

From 2007 to 2014, EU skin care product manufacturing showed mixed dynamics, finally rising from 11,069 million EUR in 2007 to 11,325 million EUR in 2014. It expanded with a CAGR of +0.3% over the period under review.

France was the largest manufacturer of skin care products in absolute volumes, with 4,377 million EUR. It was distantly followed by Germany (1,999 million EUR), Italy (1,548 million EUR) and the United Kingdom (1 112 million EUR).

Between 2007 and 2014, the highest annual growth rates were recorded in France (+0.6% per year), Italy (+2.3% per year) and the UK (+3.4% per year). Over the period under review, Germany showed negative dynamics in relative volumes (-2.5% per year).

France dominated in EU skin care product manufacturing and trade. In 2014, it exported the lion's share of its total skin care product output. Of this amount, 10% was supplied to Germany, where French skin care products held a 24% share of total Germany's imports.
