Germany Excels at the EU Straw Baler Trade

From 2007 to 2014, EU straw baler production showed negative dynamics, falling from 53,344 units in 2007 to 33,021 units in 2014. It dropped with a CAGR of -6.6% over the period under review. In value terms, EU straw baler production was 732 million EUR in 2014, growing by +0.7% between 2007 and 2014.

The countries with the largest production of straw and fodder balers in absolute volumes were Poland (7,669 units), Germany (7,136 units) and Italy (2,818 units).

Positive dynamics in baler production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Germany (+1.4% per year), while for the other two EU leaders (Poland and Italy) the paces of growth were negative.

Germany ranked second in EU straw baler production and dominated in trade. In 2014, it exported the lion's share of its total straw baler output. Of this amount, 12% was supplied to France, where Germany's straw and fodder balers held a 29% share of total French imports.
