Germany dominates in the global trade of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials. In 2014, Germany exported 2,262 thousand tonnes of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials totaling 1,948 million USD, 1% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was France, where it supplied 9.6% of its total exports on the fiberboard market in value terms, accounting for 40.8% of France's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, Germany was a net exporter of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced.

China and Belgium were among the other main global suppliers of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials in 2014. The fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were China (+6.0% per year) and Thailand (+11.9% per year). China, by virtue of this steady growth, was able to strengthen its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, Germany's top 5 trading partners were France, the Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom and Austria, with a combined 35.7% share of Germany's fiber board of wood or other ligneous material exports. The share of Poland increased modestly (+1.8 percentage points), while the share of Belgium dipped slightly (-1.3 percentage points).
