Germany Is the World’s Leading Fresh Cream Exporter

Germany dominates in the global fresh cream trade. In 2014, Germany exported 185 thousand tonnes of fresh cream totaling 438 million USD, 4% over the previous year.

Overall, the global fresh cream trade decreased to 1,712 million USD, with a CAGR of -1% from 2007 to 2014. In physical terms, it increased from 879 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 1,123 thousand tonnes in 2014.

In 2014, France (22%), Germany (22%), Belgium (16%), Italy (8%) and the Netherlands (5%) were the leading destinations of fresh cream imports, together making up 74% of global imports. The share of China increased significantly (+10 percentage points), while the share of Belgium illustrated negative dynamics (-3 percentage points).

France and the Netherlands were among the other main global suppliers of fresh cream in 2014 with a combined share of 25% of global exports. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were New Zealand (+24% per year) and Iran (+13% per year). France strengthened its position in the global export structure, from 10% in 2007 to 13% in 2014.
