Germany Produces and Exports the Largest Share of Woven Filament Fabrics and Staple Fibers in the EU

From 2007 to 2014, EU production of woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers showed a decrease in dynamics, falling from 4 705 million square meters in 2007 to 3 017 million square meters in 2014. Over the period under review, it dropped with a CAGR of 6.2%. In value terms, EU filament fabric and staple fiber production decreased to 4 658 million EUR in 2014, dropping by 4.1% annually.

The countries with the largest production of woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers in absolute volumes were Germany (575 million square meters) and Italy (561 million square meters). They were followed by Spain (250 million square meters) and Lithuania (30 million square meters).

Positive dynamics in filament fabric and staple fiber production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Lithuania (+8.7% per year), while for the other three EU leaders (Germany, Italy and Spain) the paces of growth were negative.

Germany dominated in EU production and exports of woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers. In 2014, Germany exported the lion's share of its total woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers output.
