T-shirt Market - Germany Tops the EU T-Shirt Trade

Germany and Belgium were the main suppliers of t-shirts among the EU countries, with a combined share of 31% of total exports on the t-shirt market in 2014. However, the fastest growing suppliers were Spain (+9% per year) and the Netherlands (+8% per year) in total exports from 2007 to 2014. Germany significantly strengthened its position in the European export structure, from 20% in 2007 to 23% in 2014.

In 2014, the main destinations of t-shirts in the EU-28 were Germany (23%), the UK (14%) and France (12%). The share imported by Spain increased (+3 percentage points), while the share delivered to the UK illustrated negative dynamics (-4 percentage points). The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Germany dominated in the EU trade and took the third spot in production. In 2014, Germany exported 15.7% of its total exports to Austria, where German t-shirts held a 79.5% share of total Austria's consumption.
