Germany held the second spot in the global trade of electric filament, discharge lamps and arc lamps. In 2014, Germany exported 49.7 thousand tonnes of electric filament, discharge lamps and arc lamps totaling 2,287 million USD, 5% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner was the U.S., where it supplied 12.4% of its total exports on the global lamp market in value terms, accounting for 12.4% of the U.S.'s total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, Germany was a net exporter of electric filament, discharge lamps and arc lamps. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced.

China and Poland were among the other main global suppliers of electric filament, discharge lamps and arc lamps in 2014. These countries were also the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 (+6.8% and +3.2% per year, respectively). China, by virtue of this growth, was able to strengthen its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, Germany's top 5 trading partners were the U.S., France, China, Poland and the Czech Republic, with a combined 44% share of Germany's electric filament, discharge lamps and arc lamps exports. The share of China increased modestly (+6.3 percentage points), while the share of France illustrated negative dynamics (-4.5 percentage points).
