From 2007 to 2014, EU production on the power tool market showed mixed dynamics, eventually rising from 3,847 thousand units in 2007 to 4,743 thousand units in 2014. It expanded with a CAGR of 3.0% over the period under review. In value terms, EU tool production decreased to 898 million EUR in 2014, falling by 1.2% annually.

The country with the largest production of hand tools in value terms was Germany (414 million EUR). It was distantly followed by Italy (51 million EUR), the Czech Republic (19 million EUR) and the UK (15 million EUR).

Positive dynamics in hand tools production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were observed in the Czech Republic (+18.6% per year) and Germany (+2.1% per year), while for the other two EU leaders (Italy and the UK) the paces of growth were negative.

Germany dominated in EU pneumatic and hydraulic hand tools production and trade. In 2014, Germany exported 85% of its total tools output. Of this amount, 13% was supplied to France, where Germany's tools held a 17% share of total France's imports.
