From 2007 to 2014, EU alumina production showed decrease, falling from 2,816 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 2,070 thousand tonnes in 2014. It dropped with a CAGR of 4.3% over the period under review. In value terms, EU alumina production decreased to 67.2 million EUR in 2014, falling by 3.3% annually.

The countries with the largest production of alumina in absolute volumes were Greece (2,000 thousand tonnes) and Denmark (0.2 thousand tonnes). The pace of growth for EU leaders (Greece and Denmark) was negative, 4.3% and 0.9%, respectively.

Greece dominated in EU alumina production and trade. In 2014, Greece exported 21% of its total alumina output. Of this amount, 42% was supplied to France, where Greece's alumina held a 19% share of total France imports.
