Despite a slight drop in exports, India continued its dominance in the global trade of stainless steel angles, shapes and sections. In 2014, India exported 41.2 thousand tonnes of stainless steel angles, shapes and sections totaling 136 million USD, 6% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner was the U.S., where it supplied 31.6% of its total exports of stainless steel angles, shapes and sections in value terms, accounting for 62.3% of U.S. total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, India was a net exporter of stainless steel angles, shapes and sections. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced due to high export prices.

China and Germany were among the other main global suppliers of stainless steel angles, shapes and sections in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporter from 2007 to 2014 was Turkey (+19.4% per year). This country considerably strengthened its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, India's top 5 trading partners were the U.S., the Republic of Korea, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium, with a combined 59.7% share of India's exports. The share of the U.S. increased significantly (+6.5 percentage points), while the share of Germany illustrated negative dynamics (-4.4 percentage points).
