India dominates in the global cashew nut trade. In 2014, India exported 132 thousand tonnes of cashew nuts totaling 883 million USD, 4% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner on the global cashew nut market was the U.S., where it supplied 25% of its total cashew nut exports in value terms, accounting for 23% of the U.S.'s total imports.

Côte d'Ivoire and the Netherlands were among the other main global suppliers of cashew nuts in 2014. The fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Burkina Faso (+70% per year) and Côte d'Ivoire (+34% per year). Because of this, Côte d'Ivoire was able to significantly strengthen its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, India's top 5 trading partners were the U.S., the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Japan and Saudi Arabia, with a combined 63% share of India's cashew nut exports. The share of the United Arab Emirates increased (+6 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. illustrated negative dynamics (-11 percentage points).
