Italy Becomes the Main EU Manufacturer of Sanitary Ware

From 2007 to 2014, EU sanitary ware production showed mixed dynamics, finally rising from 196 million units in 2007 to 238 million units in 2014. It expanded with a CAGR of +3.0% over the period under review. In value terms, EU sanitary ware production decreased to 2.3 billion EUR in 2014, falling by -4.7% annually.

The countries with the largest production of such sanitary ware as plastic baths, wash-basins, lavatory pans and covers and similar articles in absolute volumes were Italy (25 million units), Germany (11 million units) and the United Kingdom (10 million units).

From 2007 to 2014, the main producing leaders showed negative dynamics: Italy (-13.5% per year) and Germany (-2.4% per year).

Italy dominated in EU sanitary ware production and ranked fourth in trade. In 2014, it exported 68% of its total sanitary ware output. Of this amount, 23% was supplied to France, where Italy's sanitary ware held a 9% share of total French imports.
