From 2007 to 2014, EU shampoo production showed mixed dynamics, finally rising from 4,954 million EUR in 2007 to 5,024 million EUR in 2014. It expanded with a CAGR of +0.2% over the period under review.

Italy was the largest producer on the shampoo market in absolute volumes, with 1,096 thousand tonnes. It was distantly followed by France (750 thousand tonnes), Spain (556 thousand tonnes) and the United Kingdom (428 thousand tonnes).

Between 2007 and 2014, the highest annual growth rates were recorded in Italy (+2.6%), while for the other three EU leaders (France, Spain and the UK) the paces of growth were more modest or negative.

Italy dominated in EU shampoo production and ranked third in trade. In 2014, it exported 61% of its total shampoo output. Of this amount, 9% was supplied to Spain, where Italian shampoos held a 21% share of total Spain's imports.
