Jordan dominates in the global natural phosphate trade. In 2014, Jordan exported 4,616 thousand tonnes of natural phosphates totaling 470 million USD, 25% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was India, where it supplied 69% of its total natural phosphate exports in value terms, accounting for 33% of India's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, Jordan was a net exporter on the global phosphate market. During this period, no imports of natural phosphates were observed.

Peru and Egypt were among the other main global suppliers of natural phosphates in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Peru (+317% per year) and Senegal (+58% per year). Peru, by virtue of this meteoric growth, significantly strengthened its position in the global export structure.

Jordan's top 5 trading partners in 2014 were India, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Japan and Australia, with a combined 92% share of Jordan's natural phosphate exports. The share of Indonesia increased (+7 percentage points), while the share of India illustrated negative dynamics (-2 percentage points).
