Nonwoven Textile Industry Thrives in Italy

From 2007 to 2014, EU nonwoven textile production showed mixed dynamics, finally rising from 1.4 million tonnes in 2007 to 1.8 million tonnes in 2014. It expanded with a CAGR of +3.4% over the period under review. In value terms, EU nonwoven textile production reached 5.5 billion EUR in 2014, growing by +3.0% annually.

The countries with the largest production of nonwoven textiles in absolute volumes were Italy (495 thousand tonnes) and Germany (455 thousand tonnes). From 2007 to 2014, Italy (+4.9% per year) and Germany (+2.8% per year) showed positive dynamics.

Italy dominated in EU nonwoven textile production and ranked second in trade. In 2014, it exported 51% of its total nonwoven textile output. Of this amount, 18% was supplied to Germany, where Italy's nonwoven textiles held a 22% share of total German imports.
