From 2007 to 2014, EU polyamide production showed mixed dynamics, finally rising from 2.2 million tonnes in 2007 to 2.5 million tonnes in 2014. It expanded with a CAGR of +1.8% over the period under review. In value terms, EU polyamide production reached 5.5 million EUR in 2014, growing by +1.2% annually.

Italy was the largest producer on the polyamide market in absolute volumes, with 385 thousand tonnes. It was followed by France (191 thousand tonnes), Belgium (161 thousand tonnes) and Poland (141 thousand tonnes).

Positive dynamics in polyamide production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Poland (+15.1% per year), while for the other three EU leaders (Italy, France and Belgium) the paces of growth were more modest or negative.

Italy dominated in EU polyamide production and trade. In 2014, it exported 28% of its total polyamide output. Of this amount, 9% was supplied to Spain, where Italy's polyamides held a 27% share of total Spain's imports.
