Spain dominates in the global trade of goat or kid hides and skins. In 2014, Spain exported 10 thousand tonnes of goat or kid hides and skins totaling 49 million USD, 40% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner was China, where it supplied 96% of its total exports of goat or kid hides and skins in value terms, accounting for the lion's share of China's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, Spain was a net exporter of goat or kid hides and skins. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced, except for the period from 2007 to 2009 when low export prices made it more notable.

Zambia and the Netherlands were among the other main global suppliers of goat or kid hides and skins in 2014. From 2007 to 2014, they were the fastest growing exporters with an annual increase of 48% for both of them, significantly strengthening their positions in the global export structure.

In 2014, Spain's top 5 trading partners were China, Italy, Ghana, Indonesia and Togo, with a combined 99.6% share of Spain's exports of goat or kid hides and skins. The share of China increased significantly (+42 percentage points), while the share of Italy illustrated negative dynamics (-7 percentage points). Supplies to the other Spain's trading partners were unstable.
