The U.S. continued its dominance on the global pvc market. In 2013, the U.S. exported 3,148 thousand tonnes of polyvinyl chloride totaling 3,348 million USD, 3% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner was Canada, where it supplied 15.3% of its total polyvinyl chloride exports.

Overall, the global polyvinyl chloride trade reached 14,737 million USD, with a CAGR of 2.5% from 2007 to 2013. In physical terms, it showed steady growth, rising from 11,150 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 12,891 thousand tonnes in 2013.

In 2013, India (9.1%), China (8.1%), Turkey (7.0%), Germany (5.2%) and Italy (5.1%) were the leading destinations of polyvinyl chloride imports, together making up 34.6% of global imports. The share of India increased significantly (+6 percentage points), while the share of China illustrated negative dynamics (-2 percentage points).

The U.S. and Germany were the main global suppliers of polyvinyl chloride in 2013, with a combined share of 33.6% of global exports. The U.S was also the fastest growing exporter from 2007 to 2013 (+11% per year), significantly strengthening its position in the global export structure, from 12% in 2007 to 23% in 2013.
