The global trade in carpets and other textile floor coverings amounted to 1,517 million USD in 2015, showing strong volatility over the period under review. A 20% drop in 2009 was followed by a spike in 2010, with exports exceeding their pre-recession value. Exports declined again in 2012, briefly increased in 2013, then continued falling through the end of the period under review. Overall, there was an annual decrease of -0.7% from 2007 to 2015.

Its primary trading partner was Saudi Arabia, where it supplied 15.8% of its total carpet and other textile floor covering exports in value terms, accounting for 74.2% of Saudi Arabia's total imports.
