From 2007 to 2015, global exports on the coconut market increased by +39.2% per year, amounting to 343 million USD in 2015. In physical terms, they reached 865 thousand tonnes in 2015, an increase of 61 thousand tonnes against the previous year.

In 2015, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, Indonesia (526 thousand tonnes) was the main exporter of coconut in the world, comprising 61% of global exports. Thailand assumed second position in this ranking with a 10% share, followed by India (5%), Malaysia (5%), Viet Nam (4%), Mexico and the Netherlands (2% each).

Most of the countries recorded an increase in exports in 2015 (against the figures for 2014): Thailand (+9%), Indonesia (+26%), Mexico (+24%) and India (+13%). The Netherlands (-52%), and Viet Nam (-58%), registered a reduced exports figure.

In 2015, the average export price amounted to 396 USD per tonne. Export prices varied considerably by country of origin. India (873 USD/tonne) and Viet Nam (847 USD/tonne) were high priced suppliers, while Indonesia (235 USD/tonne) and Malaysia (140 USD/tonne) were amongst the lowest.
