From 2007 to 2015, exports on the global goat meat market decreased to 377 million USD. In physical terms, they stood at 62.6 thousand tonnes in 2015, 11 thousand tonnes down on the previous year.

In 2015, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, Australia (32.1 thousand tonnes) and Ethiopia (16.4 thousand tonnes) were the main global exporters of goat meat, together comprising 77% of international exports and remaining the fastest growing exporters. From 2007 to 2015, average annual growth rates of goat meat exports from these countries stood at +8.5% and +23.4%, respectively.

Pakistan held the third spot in this ranking with a 5% share, followed by France (4%), China and Spain (3% each). While the shares of Australia and Ethiopia increased, the share of the other leading countries displayed negative dynamics.

The small amount of goat meat that is actually sent for exports, is currently in demand as a delicacy, and is sold at the highest possible price, mostly to those countries with a high Muslim population.
