From 2007 to 2015, global exports on the hazelnut market grew by +5.8% per year, amounting to 166.2 million USD in 2015. In physical terms, exports amounted to 49.6 thousand tonnes in 2015, a decrease of 7.5 thousand tonnes (or 13%) on the previous year.

In 2015, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, the U.S. (35.3 thousand tonnes) was the main exporter of hazelnuts in the world, comprising 71% of global exports. From 2007 to 2015, the average annual growth rate of hazelnut exports from this country stood at +2.5%.

Chile held the second spot in this ranking with a 10% share, followed by France (5%) and Italy (3%). From 2007 to 2015, Chile became the fastest growing supplier, growing with a CAGR of +22.6%, while France displayed an annual decrease.

While the shares of the U.S. (+9 percentage points) and Chile (+8 percentage points) increased significantly, the shares of France and Italy was relatively stable over the period.
