From 2007 to 2015, global exports on the molasses market displayed sharp fluctuations. In 2007 and 2010, exports increased significantly with consequent reductions in 2008 and 2011. From 2011 to 2015, values of exports were more stable with the exception for 2015 when there was another sharp decline. In 2015, exports rose again to 45 million USD. In physical terms, they reached 293 thousand tonnes in 2015.

In 2015, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, South Africa (78 thousand tonnes), the Republic of Korea (63 thousand tonnes), the Philippines (30 thousand tonnes), and the UK (28 thousand tonnes) were the main destinations of Indian molasses exports, together comprising 68% of Indian exports.

The Netherlands held the fifth spot in this ranking with a 9% share, followed by Saudi Arabia (6%), and Norway (6%).

Due to large exports volume in 2015, the share of South Africa increased significantly, while the share of the Netherlands displayed negative dynamics. Regardless, the Netherlands remained one of the most stable export destinations from 2007 to 2015.
