Which Countries Export the Most Tea?

From 2008 to 2015, global exports on the tea market showed mixed dynamics, amounting to 1,731 thousand tonnes in 2015. In value terms, they dropped to 6,574 million USD in 2015, which was 1,299 million USD less than the year before.

In 2015, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, China (327 thousand tonnes) and Sri Lanka (305 thousand tonnes) were the main exporters of tea in the world, together comprising 37% of global exports and remaining the fastest growing exporters. From 2008 to 2015, average annual growth rates of tea exports from China stood at +1.4%.

Kenya held the third spot in this ranking with a 14% share, followed by India (14%) and Argentina (4%). The largest producers of tea accounted for a significant share in global exports.

While the share of China increased significantly, the share of Kenya displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
