Which Countries Export the Most Vanilla?

From 2007 to 2015, global exports of vanilla grew by +16.6% per year, amounting to 405 million USD in 2015. In physical terms, exports on the global vanilla market reached 7,028 tonnes in 2015, which was 738 tonnes (or 12%) more than the year before.

In 2015, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, Madagascar (2,790 tonnes) was the main exporter of vanilla in the world, comprising 40% of global exports. France took the second position in the ranking with a share of 10%, followed by Germany, Canada and Slovakia (6%, each).

Canada was the fastest growing exporter: average annual growth rates of vanilla exports from this country stood at +7.3% from 2007 to 2015. The remaining countries also displayed positive dynamics: Germany (+6.4%), France (+5.1%) and Madagascar (+1.3%) over the last eight years.

The share of the Slovenia (+6 percentage points), France, Germany and Canada (+2 percentage points, each) increased, the share of Madagascar (-5 percentage points) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
