Which Countries Export the Most Wood-Based Panels?

From 2007 to 2015, global exports on the wood-based panel market showed mixed dynamics, finally decreasing to 34,267 million USD in 2015. In physical terms, they reached 85,233 thousand cubic meters in 2015, which was 912 thousand cubic meters more than the year before.

Particle board and plywood (33% each) held the largest share of total exports in 2015, followed by MDF (20%), veneer sheets (5%), hardboard (5%), and insulating board (4%).

In 2015, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, China (15,309 thousand cubic meters) was the main exporter of wood-based panels in the world. It was followed by Canada (7,665 thousand cubic meters), Germany (6,043 thousand cubic meters), Russia (4,496 thousand cubic meters), and Malaysia (4,291 thousand cubic meters), together comprising 44% of global exports. From 2007 to 2015, the highest average annual growth rates of wood-based panel exports were observed in Russia and China, at +7.5% and +4.0%, respectively.

While the share of China increased significantly, the shares of Canada and Germany displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
