Which Countries Import the Most Honey?

The value of total imports on the global honey market in 2015 stood at 2,277 million USD. There was an annual increase of +12.0% for the period from 2007 to 2015. In physical terms, imports of honey reached 643 thousand tonnes in 2015, which was 22 thousand tonnes (3%) more than the year before.

In 2015, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, the U.S. (175 thousand tonnes), Germany (87 thousand tonnes), the UK (42 thousand tonnes), Japan (36 thousand tonnes), France (33 thousand tonnes), Belgium (33 thousand tonnes), and Spain (31 thousand tonnes) were the main destinations of honey imports, together making up 68% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2015, Belgium (+18.0% per year) and Spain (+12.9% per year) had the highest growth rates of imports. They were followed by the U.S. (+6.6%). Germany showed negative dynamics, dropping by -1.0% over the last five years.

Belgium (+3 percentage points), Spain, and the U.S. (+2 percentage points each), strengthened their positions in terms of the global imports, while Germany (-9 percentage points) and Japan (-3 percentage points) reduced their shares from 2007 to 2015.
