Which Countries Import the Most Vanilla?

The value of total imports on the global vanilla market in 2015 stood at 424 million USD. There was an annual increase of +16.9% for the period from 2007 to 2015. In physical terms, imports of vanilla reached 8,561 tonnes in 2015, 888 tonnes (12%) more than the year before.

In 2015, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, the U.S. (2,192 tonnes) and France (1,361 tonnes) were the main destinations of vanilla imports, together making up 42% of total imports. They followed by Germany (9%), Belgium (5%), the UK and Canada (4% each).

From 2007 to 2015, Belgium (+17.9%) had the highest growth rates of imports. The UK (-12.4%) and Canada (-3.4%) showed negative dynamics.

Belgium (+3 percentage points) and France (+2 percentage points) strengthened they positions in terms of the global imports, while the UK (-11 percentage points) and Canada (-2 percentage points) reduced their shares from 2007 to 2015. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
