Global molasses market production reached 65,916 thousand tonnes in 2015, with a mixed dynamic over the last few years. The decline in 2009 was followed by a recovery, until the volume levelled off in 2013-2014.

In value terms, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, production dynamics was positive, overall. In 2015, production accounted 9,816 million USD with the average growth rate at +6.5% from 2007 to 2015.

The countries with the largest production of molasses in absolute volumes were Brazil (15,532 thousand tonnes), India (12,482 thousand tonnes), Thailand (6,063 thousand tonnes), China (4,495 thousand tonnes) and Mexico (2,491 thousand tonnes).

The most notable growth rates in molasses production amongst the main producing countries from 2007 to 2015 were attained by Thailand (+9.1% per year), while the other three global leaders (Brazil, India and China) experienced more modest paces of growth. 46% of the increase in global molasses production from 2007 to 2015 was attained by Thailand, against 33% of the increase attributed to Brazil.
