In 2015, the country with the largest volume of the mandarin and clementine output was China (17,350 thousand tonnes), accounting for 55% of global production. Moreover, mandarin and clementine output in China exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest producer, Spain (2,672 thousand tonnes), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Morocco with a share of 4%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of mandarin and clementine producton in China stood at +10.5%. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: Spain (+3.8% per year) and Morocco (+16.6% per year).

Overall, the global mandarin and clementine output pursued a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures increased at an average annual rate of +5.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when the output figure increased by +15% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the total mandarin and clementine harvested area peaked in 2015, and is likely to continue its expansion in the immediate term, following rising demand over the globe.
