In 2015, the countries with the highest levels of natural rubber and gums production were Thailand (4,737 thousand tonnes), Indonesia (3,232 thousand tonnes), Viet Nam (1,012 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 65% of total output.

From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates of natural rubber and gum production among the main producing countries was attained by Viet Nam (+6.6% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Global Natural Rubber And Gums Production

Global natural rubber and gum production amounted to 13,774 thousand tonnes in 2015, rising by +4.0% against the previous year level. Overall, the global natural rubber and gum output pursued a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures increased at an average annual rate of +3.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012, when the output figure increased by +9% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global natural rubber and gum production reached its maximum volume in 2015, and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

Over the analyzed period, an increase in global natural rubber and gum production was primarily driven by disposable income growth and production of cements, adhesives, insuLating, tyres. Furthermore, these key drivers are expected to continue promoting the natural rubber and gum output in the immediate term. This general positive trend was largely conditioned by a robust expansion of the harvested area and a slight contraction of the yield figures.

The world natural rubber and gum harvested area amounted to 11,490 thousand ha in 2015, which was 3.5% more than the previous year figure. The natural rubber and gum harvested area indicated a noticeable increase over the period under review, representing a compound annual growth rate of +3.9% from 2007 to 2015. This trend pattern, however, indicated some mild fluctuations over the recent years. Over the period under review, the total natural rubber and gum harvested area peaked in 2015, and is likely to continue its expansion in the immediate term, following rising demand over the globe.
