Almond Price in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average almond import price amounted to $1,412 per ton, dropping by -17% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 103% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,470 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($4,004 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($900 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Almond Price in Sri Lanka (FOB) - 2022
The average almond export price stood at $3,750 per ton in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, the export price saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 54% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $8,634 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Australia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Qatar amounted to +11.4% per year.
Almond Imports in Sri Lanka
For the fourth year in a row, Sri Lanka recorded growth in supplies from abroad of almonds, which increased by 61% to 112 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 526% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, almond imports soared to $159K in 2022. Overall, imports saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 302% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Almond Exports in Sri Lanka
In 2022, overseas shipments of almonds decreased by 99.9% to 12 kg for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports faced a sharp descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 304%.
In value terms, almond exports fell sharply to $45 in 2022. In general, exports faced a precipitous decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 143% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $97K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
