Aluminum Insulated Wire Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
The average aluminum insulated wire import price stood at $4,368 per ton in August 2023, approximately mirroring the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 4.7% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $4,905 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($10,833 per ton), while the price for India ($3,198 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Aluminum Insulated Wire Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average aluminum insulated wire export price amounted to $6,936 per ton, with a decrease of -5.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 4.7% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $7,373 per ton in July 2023, and then shrank in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($13,019 per ton), while the average price for exports to Israel ($5,817 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Aluminum Insulated Wire Imports in the United States
For the fourth consecutive year, the United States recorded growth in overseas purchases of aluminum insulated wire and cable, which increased by 10% to 793K tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +54.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 22%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, aluminum insulated wire imports soared to $3.8B in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 53%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
