Artificial Graphite Price in Norway (FOB) - 2023

The average artificial graphite export price stood at $1,431 per ton in August 2023, with a decrease of -14% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated moderate growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, artificial graphite export price decreased by -17.6% against April 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 19% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,736 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Poland ($1,461 per ton) and Spain ($1,425 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,374 per ton) and the Netherlands ($1,409 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average artificial graphite import price stood at $3,566 per ton in 2022, growing by 41% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($9,910 per ton), while the price for the UK ($1,228 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas shipments of artificial graphite decreased by -38.3% to 9.4K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $12M, and then declined notably in the following year.
