Bacon and Ham Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2023
In November 2023, the average bacon and ham import price amounted to $7,967 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 13% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $8,954 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($10,805 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($4,624 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Bacon and Ham Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2023
The average bacon and ham export price stood at $7,325 per ton in November 2023, surging by 11% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 23% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $9,305 per ton in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($8,066 per ton), while the average price for exports to Montenegro ($4,367 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Bacon and Ham Imports in Serbia
For the fourth consecutive year, Serbia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of bacon, ham and other dried, salted or smoked pig meat, which increased by 20% to 3.5K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +47.2% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, bacon and ham imports surged to $24M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.3% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
