Broken Rice Price in Kuwait (CIF) - 2022

The average broken rice import price stood at $470 per ton in 2022, declining by -7.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $546 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United States ($589 per ton) and India ($477 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($404 per ton) and Egypt ($460 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average broken rice export price amounted to $2,036 per ton, jumping by 208% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 294% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,662 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($7,498 per ton), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($72 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+45.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Broken Rice Imports in Kuwait

Broken rice imports into Kuwait surged to 274 tons in 2022, growing by 35% compared with 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -19.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 79%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 342 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, broken rice imports soared to $129K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -16.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 73% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $154K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Broken Rice Exports in Kuwait

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of broken rice, when their volume decreased by -44.5% to 289 kg. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 463% against the previous year.

In value terms, broken rice exports soared to $589 in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 456% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $834. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
