Broken Rice Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2022

The average broken rice import price stood at $998 per ton in 2022, surging by 3.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 10%. The import price peaked at $1,933 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,074 per ton), while the price for Poland ($715 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average broken rice export price stood at $1,292 per ton in 2022, picking up by 11% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a slight increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 25% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,709 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Estonia.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Estonia amounted to +1.7% per year.

Broken Rice Imports in Latvia

In 2022, supplies from abroad of broken rice decreased by -26% to 330 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 204%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 827 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, broken rice imports fell markedly to $329K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 236%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $840K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of broken rice were finally on the rise to reach 4.6 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant decrease.

In value terms, broken rice exports soared to $6K in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a dramatic contraction.
