In 2022, the average carbon disulphide import price amounted to $876 per ton, dropping by -6.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 24% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $6,934 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($1,846 per ton), while the price for Germany ($346 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (-4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Carbon Disulphide Imports in Pakistan
In 2022, imports of carbon disulphides into Pakistan dropped sharply to 142 kg, shrinking by -16.5% on 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 209%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 170 kg, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
In value terms, carbon disulphide imports dropped significantly to $124 in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a dramatic contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 81%.
