Chewing Gum Price in Norway (CIF) - 2023
The average chewing gum import price stood at $14,435 per ton in August 2023, waning by -17.7% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated measured growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, chewing gum import price increased by +16.9% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 42% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $17,542 per ton, and then dropped remarkably in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($27,573 per ton), while the price for Spain ($4,205 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chewing Gum Price in Norway (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average chewing gum export price amounted to $7,649 per ton, reducing by -30.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed a notable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 97%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $11,581 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($186,528 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($5,104 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+38.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chewing Gum Imports in Norway
In 2022, chewing gum imports into Norway was estimated at 251 tons, surging by 8.1% compared with the year before. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
